A madcap horde of gods and goddesses, philosophers and poets, and Trojans and Spartans were the characters in Cleveland High School’s one-act play, The Hysterical History of the Trojan War. The comedy was performed in sub-section competition at St. Peter high school on Saturday.
In the play, the familiar tale from Greek mythology is brought up to date, complete with teen speak, cell phones and product placement.
In the photo, Achilles (Chad Germscheid) kneels over the slain Patroclus (Kyndra Baker) while from behind the walls of Troy, guard (Tony Meyer) is ready with a bow and arrow and Paris (Drake Iverson) watches through binoculars.
Ajax (Jack Widmer), Odysseus (Cody Hollerich) and Agamemnon (Nicole Schwamberger) look on. Cleveland English teacher Amy Tolzmann directed the play. The competition also included the schools of Lake-Crystal Welcome Memorial, Le Center, St. James, St. Peter and Sibley East. The first-place award remained in St. Peter. |
